According to a report by South Korea's Yonhap News Agency on June 29, six major economic organizations in South Korea issued a joint statement on the 29th, expressing their welcome to the government's "Promotion Plan for Three Mega Projects for South Korea's Great Leap Forward". The statement pointed out that this plan, which simultaneously activates advanced industrial infrastructure and regional growth potential, is a blueprint to enhance the country's core industrial competitiveness and lead balanced regional development. To maximize the synergies among semiconductors, physical AI, and data centers, it is urgent for enterprises to make decisive investments while the government actively provides support. The business community expects the government to promptly resolve on-site difficulties and ensure the availability of infrastructure such as power, water, and land as well as institutional guarantees. The business community also stated that it will cooperate with the government's efforts, continuously promote innovative investment, and commit to creating high-quality jobs. On the same day, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix also announced large-scale investment plans including the construction of new production bases in the southwestern region and accelerating the development of the Yongin Semiconductor Cluster, in response to the AI-driven surge in semiconductor demand.
