Indonesia develops 15 provinces as Muslim-friendly tourist destinations with multiple measures for promotion

The Ministry of Tourism is developing 15 potential provinces into high-quality Muslim-friendly tourism destinations. According to the Indonesia Muslim Tourism Index (IMTI), these 15 provinces are recognized to have the potential to develop into Muslim-friendly tourism destinations. IMTI is compiled based on the Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI). The provinces include Aceh, Riau, Riau Islands, West Sumatra, Bengkulu, Jakarta, Banten, West Java, Central Java, East Java, South Kalimantan, West Nusa Tenggara, South Sulawesi, Gorontalo, and Yogyakarta. To encourage these provinces to develop into Muslim-friendly tourism destinations, the Ministry of Tourism has incorporated activities that can attract Muslim tourists to these provinces into the "Karisma Event Nusantara" (KEN) program. In addition, the official Indonesian tourism website (Indonesia.travel) has specially set up a "Muslim-Friendly Tourism" page to facilitate Muslim tourists in accessing relevant information such as destination details, event schedules, religious sites, and Muslim-friendly travel packages. The Minister of Tourism stated that the government also supports the diversification of Muslim-friendly tourism products to meet the needs and preferences of Muslim tourists worldwide.
