India plans to invest over $20 billion in offshore energy exploration.

India announced in May that it will invest over $20 billion to implement an in-depth ocean exploration plan to search for oil and gas.

    According to a report by India's Business Standard on May 14, Hardeep Puri, India's Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, announced on the same day that India will implement the Samudra Manthan program, investing more than $20 billion in offshore energy data collection to fully boost domestic oil and gas production.

    Puri said that energy data is the key to the industry's development. India will increase investment in seismic data collection and strive to make major oil and gas discoveries in sedimentary basins.
