Ireland has released a circular economy strategy, focusing on six major industries and setting targets such as the recycling rate.

According to a report by Ireland's RTE News on February 25th, Darragh O'Brien, the Minister for Climate, Energy and the Environment of Ireland, and Alan Dillon, the Minister of State for the Circular Economy, released the "Accelerated Action" circular economy strategy. The action strategy identifies six key sectors, namely the construction industry, bioeconomy, retail industry, packaging industry, textile industry, and electronics industry. Roadmaps for each sub - industry will be released successively this year. It supports local governments in establishing reuse, repair, and recycling centers, and implements a national pilot repair voucher program to reuse, repair, and recycle as much as possible, and remanufacture products and materials at the end of their life cycle. The overall goal is to achieve a 90% plastic bottle recycling rate by 2029, increase the use rate of recycled materials in Ireland to 12% by 2030, reduce food waste by 50%, and reduce packaging waste by 5%.
