The State Council has approved the "15th Five-Year Plan" for Expanding Consumption.

According to a notice from the Chinese government official website on the 13th, the State Council has issued an official approval for the "15th Five-Year Plan for Expanding Consumption", giving its consent in principle to the plan.

The approval points out that the implementation of the plan must adhere to the strategic foundation of expanding domestic demand, thoroughly carry out targeted initiatives to boost consumption, expand service consumption, upgrade commodity consumption, enrich business formats and consumption scenarios, enhance residents' consumption capacity, optimize the consumption environment, improve supporting systems and policies, refine the long-term mechanism for expanding household consumption, and give better play to the fundamental role of consumption in driving economic development.

The approval requires that the people's governments of all provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the Central Government shall take expanding consumption as a key task for local economic and social development during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, strengthen organizational leadership, clarify work responsibilities, explore effective approaches to expand consumption tailored to local conditions, and earnestly implement the targets, tasks, policy measures set forth in the plan in light of local realities.
