Trump adjusts tariffs on multiple countries: 50% for Brazil, 35% for Canada, and extends exemption period for China.

Trump signed an executive order, announcing the adjustment of the reciprocal tariff rates imposed on nearly 70 trading partners. The new tariff rates range from 10% to 41%. Other countries/regions will uniformly apply a reciprocal tariff rate of 10%. Goods that were shipped or on the final mode of transport before August 7, 2025, Eastern Time, and arrived in the United States for consumption or were withdrawn from the warehouse for consumption before October 5 are exempt from the above-mentioned tariffs.

The new tariffs will take effect at 00:01 on August 7, 2025, Eastern Time. Trump said, "To allow the Customs and Border Protection enough time to make the necessary changes to collect the new tariffs." A statement from the White House emphasized that the tariffs of some countries, including China, Canada, Mexico, and Brazil, "are regulated by separate decrees."

 Brazil: Starting from August 7, the United States will impose an additional 40% tariff on Brazil, plus a 10% reciprocal tariff, bringing the total additional tariff rate to 50%.

 Canada: Starting from August 1, the United States officially raised the tariff rate on Canadian goods exported to the United States from 25% to 35%. Among them, goods that meet the requirements of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) will not be affected by the higher tariff rate.

 Mexico: On July 31, the United States and Mexico agreed to extend the bilateral agreement for 90 days. That is, the United States will continue to impose a 25% fentanyl tariff on Mexico.

China: The suspension period of China-US tariffs will expire on August 12. According to the consensus reached during the China-US economic and trade talks in Stockholm, Sweden, both sides will continue to promote the 90-day extension of the suspended 24% part of the US reciprocal tariffs and China's countermeasures as scheduled. That is, the 10% reciprocal tariff will be extended for 90 days.
