Four overseas special economic zones are coming right to our doorstep! What is Qiantang planning for?

On September 23, the special matchmaking event for Special Economic Zones under the theme of "Invest in BRICS" was held in Qiantang. As one of the supporting activities of the "2026 BRICS Special Economic Zones Hangzhou Dialogue" of the 5th Digital Trade Fair, this event is hosted by Hangzhou Municipal Bureau of Commerce and Qiantang District People's Government, and undertaken by Qiantang District Bureau of Commerce and Zhejiang Enterprises Global Outbound Integrated Service Port. Approximately 200 attendees including BRICS diplomatic envoys in China, representatives of international organizations, representatives of special economic zones, and representatives of enterprises and service providers from inside and outside Zhejiang Province gathered to renew the BRICS friendship and discuss cooperation plans. Zhang Huina, Deputy Secretary of the New Area Working Committee, Director of the Management Committee, Deputy Secretary of the District Committee, and District Mayor, attended and delivered a speech, while district leader Li Jun and relevant responsible persons from the departments of Hangzhou Municipal Bureau of Commerce also participated.

This matchmaking event features numerous highlights and fruitful outcomes. At the scene, the launching ceremony of the Entrepreneur Committee of the BRICS Special Economic Zones China Cooperation Center was held, with 7 enterprises including China United Engineering Corporation, Hangzhou Industrial Investment Group, Dafeng Industry, Mengma Holdings, Zhongce Rubber, Haicang Technology, and Qiantang Global Economic and Trade Development Co., Ltd. becoming the first batch of members. As the official carrier for the BRICS Center to contact and serve enterprises, the Entrepreneur Committee will further unblock the channels for government-enterprise dialogue, and drive more market entities to participate in BRICS economic and trade cooperation.

Cooperation among BRICS countries relies not only on the docking of industries and trade, but also on the in-depth integration of culture and people-to-people bonds. During the event, the photography exhibition "Contemporary Brazilian Photography Tour", a BRICS cultural exchange activity, was also officially launched simultaneously, and will be on display on the 1st floor of Building 1, Wisdom Valley. Taking images as the link, the exhibition fully demonstrates Brazil's natural scenery, cultural characteristics and industrial vitality, and innovatively realizes the two-way integration of BRICS economic and trade cooperation and people-to-people and cultural exchanges.

We are very grateful to our partners from Chinese special economic zones for providing us with opportunities to learn, exchange and draw on the best practices of modern industrial park development. The on-site visit to production projects and management models is of great reference value to us," said Bukharbayev Yerbol, Chairman of the Kazakhstan Free Zones and Special Economic Zones Association. The subsequent themed promotion session was also full of practical content. Representatives from four overseas special economic zones, namely the Kazakhstan Free Zones and Special Economic Zones Association, the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority of the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia's Batang Industrial New City, and the Grodno Investment Free Economic Zone of Belarus, took the stage one after another to introduce their location advantages, industrial positioning, preferential policies and supporting services, and issued "investment invitations" to Chinese enterprises.

Meanwhile, local outbound service institutions and leading enterprises made a concentrated appearance and empowered the event with their insights. Zhejiang Enterprises Global Outbound Integrated Service Port fully demonstrated its one-stop cross-border outbound service system to provide full-cycle support for enterprises going global; the Overseas Alumni Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center of Zhejiang University Alumni Headquarters Economic Park built a two-way cooperation mechanism to facilitate cross-border docking of technologies, talents and projects. Local leading enterprises including China United Engineering Corporation, Hangzhou Industrial Investment Group, Dafeng Industry and Aokai Biotechnology shared their outbound development achievements and technical advantages, demonstrated their core competitiveness in participating in global competition and deeply cultivating the BRICS market, and accurately matched the industrial needs of overseas parks.

After the event, enterprise representatives and park representatives from various countries conducted face-to-face negotiations on investment implementation, park settlement, industrial cooperation and other issues, accurately matched supply and demand, and reached a number of cooperation intentions on site.

In the next step, Qiantang will continue to rely on the BRICS Center platform, further deepen the regular docking with all BRICS countries, improve the cross-border outbound service system, promote the in-depth integration of industry, trade, investment and people-to-people exchanges, continuously amplify the advantages of the open platform, attract global resource agglomeration, help more local enterprises sail to the global market, and write a brand new chapter of win-win openness and coordinated development for BRICS in the new era.
