The Moroccan government has increased its support for e-commerce.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Morocco stated that the output value of the e-commerce sector has had an average growth rate of over 30% in the past five years and has become one of the fastest-growing economic industries in Morocco. This is due to the wide spread of the Internet, the continuous improvement of delivery services, and the growing consumer group proficient in technology applications, which brings new opportunities to small businesses, entrepreneurs, and job seekers. At the same time, it helps local enterprises explore new markets and diversify their revenues.
The Moroccan government is committed to strengthening supervision, improving logistics, and supporting small businesses to enter the online market. It has introduced a relatively complete legal system to regulate e-commerce, covering consumer protection, product safety, electronic payment, network security, and data protection. The national platforms MRTB (a digital startup incubation platform for the retail industry created by the Moroccan government) and Trade.ma (a Moroccan B2B trading platform) have helped 4,500 small businesses integrate into the digital economy and set up 200 distribution centers.
