South Korea to invest KRW 140 billion to promote AI transformation in 10 industrial parks by 2028

According to a report by South Korea's "E-Daily" on June 17, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of South Korea plans to invest 140 billion won (approximately 750 million yuan) by 2028 to promote the Artificial Intelligence Transformation (AX) project in 10 industrial parks. This project will focus on introducing AI technology to parks that have already achieved results in intelligent transformation to improve production efficiency. The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy will publicly recruit project execution agencies by July 28. The applicants should be the 24 parks designated as "Smart Green Parks" as of last year. Ultimately, 10 park alliances will be selected, and each alliance can receive 14 billion won in financial support within three and a half years, totaling 140 billion won. These funds will be used for building AX infrastructure, conducting AI empirical applications in enterprises, formulating an overall AX plan, and operating the AX alliance and other related work. The Korea Industrial Complex Corporation will hold a project briefing on June 20. The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy stated that this project not only focuses on infrastructure construction but also promotes the rapid implementation of AI in the manufacturing site, helping the parks to accelerate their transformation into high-end manufacturing bases centered around AI.
