Brazil's COP30 to Showcase Critical Mineral Potential, Focus on Sustainable Investment

According to the BNAmericas website, later this year, the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) will be held in Brazil. The Brazilian mining industry is preparing to showcase the country's critical mineral potential to participants from around the world during the conference.
COP30 will be held from November 10th to 21st, 2025, in Belém, the capital of the northern state of Pará. Brazil intends to attract international investors at this conference, with a focus on sustainable development.
Representatives from the mining industry, whether from the government or the private sector, are discussing how to leverage this event to showcase Brazil's critical mineral potential and make investors embrace the concept of sustainable mining.
Mauro Sousa, the director of the Brazilian Mining Agency (ANM), said in a statement, "The mining industry must be clearly included in the summit's agenda. It should not be regarded as a synonym for the extractive industry but rather as an industry that can contribute to innovation, the circular economy, and sustainable development."
Not long ago, Sousa participated in a forum organized by the Brazilian Mining Association (Ibram) and discussed strategies with government representatives on how to attract global representatives' attention to the Brazilian mining industry during COP30. This seminar also brought together officials, experts, and representatives from civil society organizations from various countries to jointly discuss Brazil's geopolitical position in critical and strategic minerals such as lithium, rare earths, and cobalt.
