The Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China and the International Trade Center renewed the Memorandum of Understanding under the Belt and Road Initiative to deepen cooperation in multiple fields.

On June 15, Li Chenggang, China's International Trade Representative and Vice Minister of Commerce, renewed the Memorandum of Understanding on Strengthening Cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative between the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China and the International Trade Centre with Arancha González Laya, Executive Director of the International Trade Centre, and exchanged views on further deepening bilateral cooperation.

The two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation under the frameworks of the Belt and Road Initiative and the Global Development Initiative, give full play to their respective advantages, and promote the economic and trade development of countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative. The cooperation areas include: promoting regional economic integration and South-South cooperation, enhancing regional trade facilitation, promoting trade and investment, strengthening trade capacity building in rural areas, supporting the "Export to China" series of activities, promoting green transformation and sustainable development including green minerals, digital economy and green development, etc.

The renewal of the memorandum has further enriched the connotation of bilateral cooperation, provided important opportunities for countries in the Global South to accelerate sustainable development, and is of positive significance for jointly building the Belt and Road Initiative with high quality and implementing the Global Development Initiative.
