The Blue Book "China Game Industry Development Report (2026)" was released, with self-developed games continuing to grow in overseas markets and their influence enhanced.

The Second China Game and E-sports Research Annual Conference was recently held in Beijing. At the conference, the blue book "China Game Industry Development Report (2026)", jointly produced by the Digital Creative Media Research Center of Beijing Normal University, the Game Publishing Working Committee of the China Audio-Video and Digital Publishing Association, and Gamma Data, and published by Social Sciences Academic Press, was officially released. The report shows that in 2025, the actual sales revenue of Chinese self-developed games in the overseas market exceeded 100 billion RMB for the sixth consecutive year, and the international influence has gradually increased.

According to statistics, in 2025, the actual sales revenue of Chinese self-developed games in the overseas market reached 2.0455 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 10.23%. The United States, Japan, South Korea and other places remain the main markets for self-developed games.

In terms of product structure, the overseas expansion of mid- and light-weight mobile games has achieved remarkable results, and mini-program games have become the growth engine for overseas expansion. The overseas revenue of leading enterprises is stable, and small and medium-sized enterprises and independent teams are gradually rising. In terms of operation strategies, the trend of localization and refined marketing is also more obvious.

The report mentioned that despite facing multiple challenges, Chinese game companies still regard overseas expansion as an important strategic direction. The number of new games simultaneously released overseas is increasing. A large number of high-quality games actively carry out the creative transformation and innovative development of excellent traditional Chinese culture, promoting the global spread of Chinese culture. Chinese game companies are active at important exhibitions. Many domestic games have become the focus of global game players at exhibitions such as the Game Developers Conference, the Gamescom in Germany, the Tokyo Game Show in Japan, and the Korea Game Show.
