Portugal has unique conditions for the development of renewable agriculture.
A study by the consulting firm Savills Portugal shows that Portugal has the conditions to become a benchmark for regenerative agriculture in Europe by 2030. Regenerative agriculture transforms soil regeneration, water resource utilization, and biodiversity into real economic value. Between 40% and 60% of Portugal's arable land has adopted at least one form of regenerative agriculture. Among them, the Alentejo region stands out, mainly due to its large agricultural land area and the growing demand for drought-resistant systems; the Douro Valley is associated with regenerative viticulture, the western region is related to fruit and vegetable production, and the Azores are associated with regenerative grazing and dairy production.
