Thailand's border trade value in January 2026 reached 161.1 billion baht, a 10.9% increase, with a surplus of 14.8 billion baht.

According to Thai media reports, on February 25th, Rarida, the deputy spokesperson of the Thai Prime Minister's Office, revealed that in January 2026, the overall performance of Thailand's border trade and transit trade was good, with the total trade volume reaching 161.135 billion Thai baht, a year-on-year increase of 10.9%. Among them, the total export volume was 87.777 billion Thai baht, a year-on-year increase of 12.6%; the total import volume was 73.158 billion Thai baht, a year-on-year increase of 9.0%, achieving a trade surplus of 14.819 billion Thai baht.

The main export commodities in border trade include: diesel, with a total trade volume of 3.652 billion Thai baht; circuit boards, 1.232 billion Thai baht; other refined oil products, 1.214 billion Thai baht.

The main export commodities in transit trade include: hard disk drives, with a total trade volume of 8.333 billion Thai baht; telephones and accessories, with a total trade volume of 6.840 billion Thai baht; fresh durians, with a total trade volume of 6.569 billion Thai baht.

Rarida said that the data of border trade and transit trade in January reflect the important role of Thailand as a regional logistics and trade hub, especially the outstanding performance of transit trade. The government will continue to regard border trade and transit trade as an important engine to drive the economy, promote trade facilitation and infrastructure construction, continuously enhance the competitiveness of enterprises, maintain export momentum, connect regional markets, create sustainable income for Thai enterprises, and support the overall recovery of the Thai economy.
