BEIJING, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) (Reporter Zou Duowei) Over the past 50-odd years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China and Germany have continuously deepened their economic and trade cooperation. Data released by the General Administration of Customs on the 25th showed that in 2025, the total value of China-Germany trade in goods reached 1.51 trillion yuan, up 5.2% from 2024, 1.4 percentage points higher than the overall growth rate of China's foreign trade in 2025. Specifically, China's exports to Germany were worth 846.3 billion yuan, and imports from Germany were 664.3 billion yuan. Germany remained China's largest trading partner in Europe, and China returned to being Germany's largest trading partner after an interval of one year.
In terms of specific products, mechanical and electrical products have become the main force driving the stable growth of bilateral imports and exports. In 2025, the trade volume of mechanical and electrical products between China and Germany reached 1.07 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.8%, accounting for more than 70% of the total China-Germany trade volume. Among them, the trade volume of automobiles and their spare parts was 131.5 billion yuan, accounting for 12.3% of the trade volume of mechanical and electrical products between the two countries. During the same period, the trade volumes of medical materials and drugs, and basic organic chemicals between China and Germany were 65.7 billion yuan and 18.4 billion yuan respectively. The trade volumes of products in emerging fields such as 3D printers and industrial robots were 2.6 billion yuan and 1 billion yuan respectively.
As the world's second and third largest economies, China and Germany are all-round strategic partners for win-win cooperation, and the high-level exchanges between the two countries are frequent. On the morning of the 25th, German Chancellor Merz arrived in Beijing to start a two-day official visit to China. Accompanying Merz on this visit was a high-level economic and trade delegation, including executives from about 30 leading German companies in advantageous fields such as automobiles, chemicals, biopharmaceuticals, machinery manufacturing, and circular economy, fully demonstrating Germany's strong willingness to deepen bilateral economic and trade relations.
