India and the EU have completed negotiations on a free trade agreement.
According to Indian media reports, India and the European Union announced on January 27 that they had successfully completed the negotiations on the Free Trade Agreement (FTA), which will open the market doors of each other. However, both sides have excluded sensitive agricultural products. India has set protection measures for dairy products, grains, poultry, soybean meal, some fruits and vegetables, while the EU protects beef, sugar, rice, chicken, milk powder, honey, bananas and soft wheat. Currently, the tariffs on these products will remain unchanged.
Products such as Indian tea, coffee, spices and processed foods will gain better access to the EU market. At the same time, India will also open its domestic market to allow the import of EU spirits, wines and olive oil.
