Ghana signs agreement for local gold refining
According to a report by "Lezaiwang" on January 20th, the Ghana Gold Board signed a cooperation agreement with Gold Coast Refinery Company, planning to establish a systematic gold refining system in the country to reduce its dependence on raw gold exports. According to the agreement signed on January 20th, the gold produced by artisanal and large-scale mining in the country will be refined domestically to reach the international highest purity standard of 99.9% before being exported.
The person in charge of the Ghana Gold Board said that this cooperation will help Ghana reduce the outflow of refining costs, and the relevant funds can be used more to support the country's economic development. Currently, Ghana exports about 1 ton of gold per day. After the implementation of the new measures, this gold will enter the international market in the form of refined gold.
According to the arrangement, Gold Coast Refinery Company will cooperate with relevant policies to extend its operating hours, which is expected to create more jobs. Industry insiders pointed out that this move will help Ghana enhance its position in the global gold industry chain and strengthen its influence as an important gold-producing country in Africa.
