The United States invests $150 million to promote the construction of a medical drone delivery network in Africa.

According to a report by "Africa Brief" on November 26, the US government recently announced a major cooperation plan, which will invest $150 million to support the drone company Zipline in expanding its medical supplies distribution services in five African countries. This initiative is expected to expand the medical drone network to 15,000 medical institutions. According to a statement released by the US State Department on Tuesday, this cooperation will significantly expand Zipline's operations in Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, and Rwanda. The project uses an autonomous logistics system that integrates artificial intelligence and robotics technologies, aiming to solve the problem of medical supplies distribution caused by insufficient transportation infrastructure and ensure that blood products, vaccines, and emergency medicines can be delivered to remote areas in a timely manner. A spokesperson for the US State Department said that this cooperation reflects the US government's strategic direction of combining technological innovation with international development. By deploying US-made drone technologies, it can not only provide life-saving medical products to the African region but also promote employment in the United States, achieving a win-win situation. The project adopts an innovative financing mechanism and cost-sharing model, breaking through the operation mode of traditional aid projects.
