Guiyang Engineering Corporation Limited of PowerChina has signed contracts for a waste-to-energy project in Vietnam and a hydropower station project in Papua New Guinea, making further progress in its international business.

Recently, Guiyang Engineering Corporation Limited (GECOL) of PowerChina has achieved further success in overseas market development. The signing of the contracts for the Thanh Hoa Waste-to-Energy Project in Vietnam and the Kaugel Hydropower Station Project in Papua New Guinea in succession marks new progress in GECOL's in-depth layout in the Asia-Pacific regional market and further enhancement of its international operation capabilities. Thanh Hoa, Vietnam: Waste-to-Energy Project Boosts Green Development In Vietnam, GECOL successfully signed an EPC contract for a project that incinerates 50 tons of waste and 100 tons of hazardous waste per day to generate electricity with the local investment company, Nghi Son Environment Joint Stock Company. The signing of this project represents a new breakthrough for GECOL in the waste-to-energy sector. As an important province in central Vietnam, with population growth and urbanization, the amount of domestic waste in Thanh Hoa Province has been increasing year by year. The traditional landfill method not only occupies a large amount of land but also easily causes secondary pollution to soil, groundwater, and air. Through the "reduction, harmless treatment, and resource utilization" model, the waste-to-energy project can process hundreds of tons of domestic waste per day. The electricity generated from waste incineration can be connected to the Vietnamese national power grid, providing supplementary power for industrial and domestic use in Thanh Hoa Province, reducing dependence on traditional thermal power (coal-fired power), and creating job opportunities. It will have a positive impact on the ecological environment improvement, economic, and social development of the region.
