The route from Dongguan Port to Algeria, Africa, has been opened.
Recently, the ship "YANGZE 6", fully loaded with 15,000 tons of medium-density fiberboard (MDF), set sail from the Phase III Container Terminal of Dongguan Port and will head directly to Algeria in Africa. The opening of this route further expands the logistics channel from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to North Africa.
As an important economy in Africa, Algeria's construction industry has developed rapidly in recent years. With the increasingly close economic and trade cooperation between China and African countries, Algeria's demand for building materials such as MDF from China has continued to grow.
"It only took 2 hours to complete the customs clearance procedures for this batch of MDF. The customs provided us with high-quality and convenient customs clearance services, which gives us more confidence to explore new routes," said Deng Sibing, the manager of the Commerce Department of the Phase III Container Terminal of Dongguan Port.
To ensure the smooth operation of the new route, Shatian Customs under Huangpu Customs took the initiative to strengthen communication and cooperation with export enterprises and the terminal. It grasped the route dynamics in advance and guided enterprises to efficiently complete customs procedures such as ship agency declaration, cargo declaration, and inspection. It actively guided enterprises to use facilitation measures such as "advance declaration" and "direct pick-up and direct loading" to speed up the logistics operation. In addition, it implemented "embedded" supervision through remote video monitoring and ship trajectory verification to improve customs clearance efficiency on the premise of ensuring effective supervision.
As of now, Dongguan Port has opened 32 direct shipping routes to countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative, including those in Africa, Vietnam, and Malaysia.
Next, Shatian Customs will continue to fully support Dongguan Port in exploring new routes, improving the maritime logistics network, and continuously optimizing supervision and service measures to contribute to the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative.
