Yunnan Wild Mushrooms "Heat Up" for Overseas Markets
Yunnan is the province with the richest biodiversity in China. Its unique geography, climate, and abundant germplasm resources have nurtured a wide variety of edible fungi with delicate and delicious flavors and high nutritional value. With the successful artificial cultivation and large-scale planting of wild mushrooms such as boletus and morels, the "Yunjun" (Yunnan fungi) industry has further expanded. Edible fungi have become one of the highlight products for Yunnan's characteristic agricultural products to earn foreign exchange through exports. According to statistics from Kunming Customs, in the first half of this year, Yunnan exported edible fungi worth 230 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 60.8%.
In the midsummer, Deqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan Province enjoys clear skies and gentle breezes. In the packaging workshop of Xuebao Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd., a batch of freshly picked white beech mushrooms are being sent to the production line for vacuum packaging to preserve freshness. After passing the customs inspection, this batch of 12 tons of highland fresh mushrooms will be sold to Vietnam.
"Last year, we successfully completed the filing of the export food raw material planting field, preparing for the expansion of the overseas market. Now the edible fungi in our planting base have entered the harvest season, and the production lines for processing and packaging have also been put into operation. At present, the orders from overseas customers we have received have exceeded 50 tons." Li Yixiang, the person in charge of Xuebao Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd., introduced.
To better promote the high-quality economic development of ethnic areas and enable more "Yunpin" (Yunnan products) to become the "Chinese flavor" on overseas dining tables, Shangri-La Customs under Kunming Customs actively explores and establishes a full-process service guarantee mechanism of "one enterprise, one strategy" and "one product, one strategy". It guides eligible edible fungus production enterprises to conveniently handle procedures such as customs import and export consignor and consignee filing and export food raw material planting field filing through the "Internet + Customs" and the "Single Window".
"We actively connect with and follow up on the enterprise's export plans. For perishable agricultural and food products for export, we promote and apply the local inspection model, implement appointment-based inspection declaration, and achieve the issuance of certificates of origin 'as soon as they are qualified, signed immediately, and reviewed immediately upon issuance', opening up a 'fast lane' for the export of highland characteristic products. In the first half of this year, the value of exported edible fungi and their products from Deqing Prefecture reached 14.882 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 336.3%." Yang Xiao, the head of the Comprehensive Business Section of Shangri-La Customs, said.
From being popular in China to accelerating their "going global", these "Yunjun" fungi, a gift from the land of Yunnan, connect the deep bond between the mountains and forests and people, and have become another "fragrant invitation letter" sent by Yunnan to the world.
