The US Customs will start tariff refunds on the 20th of this month
In a statement submitted to the US Court of International Trade on April 14th, the US Customs and Border Protection said that the agency has basically completed the first phase of research and development of a new function for the customs declaration system for large-scale refunds to importers, and will start the relevant tariff refund work on the 20th. It is estimated that about 82% of the tariffs paid under the US "International Emergency Economic Powers Act" can be refunded through electronic payment, involving an amount of approximately $127 billion. The US Supreme Court ruled in February that the US "International Emergency Economic Powers Act" does not authorize the president to impose large-scale tariffs. The US Court of International Trade required in March that the Customs and Border Protection should not levy tariffs based on the "International Emergency Economic Powers Act" during tariff liquidation. This means that the tariffs previously levied under this act need to be refunded.
