The Ministry of Commerce of Thailand urges exporters to make full use of the preferential treatment under FTAs.
According to Thai media reports, recently, Supachai Panitchpakdi, the Minister of Commerce of Thailand, said that Thai exporters should make more full use of free trade agreements (FTAs) to tap into the untapped trade potential. She pointed out that among the 357 export-oriented companies listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), only 193 export products overseas through the FTA framework, and only about 54% of eligible enterprises use the FTA preferential treatment. However, Thailand has signed 14 free trade agreements, 13 of which are already in practical use.
The Ministry of Commerce encourages listed export enterprises to make more active use of FTAs. The Ministry of Commerce is also ready to provide support and convenience to help enhance export capabilities and competitiveness. Currently, the Ministry of Commerce is accelerating the diversification of export markets, reducing its dependence on the United States, and regarding India and other emerging markets as key strategic alternative directions.
