Cambodia's Ministry of Mines and Energy has suspended the acceptance of new applications for gas stations.
According to a notice issued by the Ministry of Mines and Energy of Cambodia, the ministry will suspend accepting applications for new fuel and gas stations from March 1, 2026, to July 31, 2026, for a period of five months.
The notice points out that the ministry is currently reviewing and revising the safety and technical regulations for fuel and gas stations in order to re - establish the approval principles for new stations. For operating fuel and gas stations, the ministry will continue to accept applications for the renewal, extension of safety and technical certificates, transfer of rights, and station reconstruction.
According to a report from the Ministry of Commerce, Cambodia imported fuels (diesel, gasoline, and natural gas) worth a total of $2.43 billion last year, a 9.6% decrease compared to the previous year. Among them, the total value of diesel imports was $1.26 billion (a year - on - year decrease of 11%), gasoline was $840 million (a decrease of 11.2%), and natural gas was $330 million (a decrease of 0.1%).
